Heres my deal...been having my taxes done every year by a lil old lady type whos never let me down..however ovr those years i had 3 kids and earned income credits and hell i never pd it much attention cus i rarely had to pay and as long as i dont get audited or have to pay im cool with it...
Well now im single, no deductions, no earned income credit (my oldest turned 18 early last yr) soooooooooo i get my forms in today from the lil ol lady and I OWE $2,300 !!!!! Federal that is....i hate to see my state return after 3 yrs of this tax crazed murdering govenor...but i digress..
Can anybody point me to a site/sites that has GOOD info..i went to the irs site and everythings there but i get lost halfway thru a paragraph with all the mumbo jumbo they talking...i'm self employed filing single unmarried and broke...lol

I have 2 friends who have a tax service. I did my own for decades got too complicated so I let them do it. So far so good.

I can tell them your situation, will save you some $ on the phone conversation.

Although it sounds like you broke the rules and knew it. That is probably a no go.

One deduction you might want to leave off, however tempting, is the home office. It's hard because it's a huge one, but statistically people who file home office deduction are three times as likely to get audited as those who don't.
